If you are thinking about copy pasting the error message on Google and doing some homework, you are going to be disappointed. In this article we shall be looking into some of the common user32.dll errors. Gone are the days when you are hunting down the search engine results looking for fixes to DLL errors, this article might help you fix that dreaded DLL error.

Before delving into the details it would be better if a formal introduction about the DLL is listed. User32.dll forms an integral component of the Windows operating systems, because most of the boxes displaying dialogues are available due to the presence of this DLL file. Imagine in the absence of this DLL file what would be the current state of Windows operating systems? Error messages maybe resulted either due to a damaged user32.dll file or due to the improper access of the file by any other programs.

  • In certain cases the PC will not boot because of the presence of this error. In such cases, it is always better to switch to safe mode and do a restoration of the operating system from the safe mode environment.
  • In most cases just by looking at the error message, the software or the hardware component which caused the error can be found out and suitably rectified.
  • Improper windows updates will also cause in User32.dll file errors. It is always recommended to download the updates for the operating system using the update services of Microsoft. The process can be automated by switching on the Automatic Update options, which can be found in the Control Panel.
  • In most cases an update of the operating system should solve the problem. If it does not, the driver for the faulty component either software or hardware can be updated manually from the websites of the respective vendors.
  • Entering tasklist /m user32.dll on the command prompt will help you in zooming into the softwares which are currently using the user32.dll file. The erroneous software will be listed in the resulting window.
  • The User32.dll file can be restored to the PC with the help of the installation disk using the Recovery Console. It is always better to install Recovery Console in the PC instead of resorting to fishing out the original installation disks when an issue crops up.
